PlaceMaking at Common Ground

Over the last few weeks, I have been working as the assisting artist for a PlaceMaking Project organised by Helen Bock of Community Arts Network (CAN). Working with lead artists Lawrence Wilkes and Helen Crawford, a mosaic mural, a painted mural and wooden seating in the shape of a big goanna (completed with exhaust pipe legs!) was created with the residents of Common Ground, Light Square.

Amazing transformation of a space from soul-less "passing through" kind of space to a community area well and truly marked with the artistic stamp of residents - exactly what a PlaceMaking project is all about!

Semaphore Markets

I love encouraging the general community to get involved in art and most importantly - get their hands dirty!
This Sunday (Father's Day, incidentally) I'm heading to the monthly Semaphore Market at St. Bede's to do a community arts workshop/project.
10am-3pm @ St. Bede's 200 Military Road, Semaphore.
We'll be making clay tiles to go in their community garden (or you can come back next month and buy it instead!).
Come along if you want to make one or just have a wander in the market.
