preparations are in full swing for a February exhibition at Urban Cow Studio

the concept behind the exhibition is the collections of a selection of Urban Cow Studio artists.
our little collections, new collections, whatever takes our fancy collections wise.

i'm going with  a few different things (as usual - decisions, decisions, just do it all!). a few whimsical bowls and spoons in terracotta (terracotta!! the horror!!) and the start of a few new lines for retail.

having just spent a year in maternity leave land, i'm starting a series based on home as i spend quite a lot of time there!

Where did June 2012 to February 2013 go ?!?!

Wow - so I may have neglected this blog for all 17 of my loyal fans ;)
Just in case you happen to check back in to see what's been happening in the land of Sunshine........

In May a few members of Paris Flat Housing Co-operative (of which I am a part) organised an exhibition @ Hindmarsh Library "Pugs to Poodles".
Here's some of my contributions.



In July, with a grant from Hindmarsh council, I attended a WEA course on photography which was loads of fun - here's some fun "drawing with light" at the night excursion!



August saw me head overseas for a family occasion and a short European holiday with my own little family (set to expand as you can see!).
London, Barcelona, Paris.

 

While I was away some new Palm Plates were shown in an exhibition at Gallery M called "Seeing Beyond The Landscape". "Brompton Landscape - Urban" (in progress) shown with original drawings.

   

 September I brewed a baby..... This is me and the bump (known as Beryl at this stage) all dressed up for a night out at the Australian Ceramics Triennale 2012, hosted by Adelaide.
 
And then she arrived - Vim Violet.... and that's what I've been up to.

Locavore at Jam Factory

Just dropped off (2 weeks ahead of schedule - an absolute first for me!) some precious little plates for an upcoming show at Jam Factory. You can read more about it in the Jam Factory's Blogspot. Show opens on the 19th of April - same night as the other shows at Jam Factory - should be a great evening so go to there!

I heart words

Here's a lovely project I did a while ago (June last year, in fact) that I only just photographed.

My kids' school asked me if I knew anyone able to do some sign writing. Being the intrepid soul that I am, I said (in the manner of Catherine Tate) "I can do that!".

They wanted the school "heart" words painted on a breezeway to complement a group project being created by the Art teacher (which looks gorgeous). But, not one to be satisfied with making it straight forward (and wanting to make it an artpiece not just a signwriting job) I asked the school to collect the school words handwritten by students. I then went through and picked out one of each word, projected them on the wall and painted them in.

Although it was freezing work - breezeway in winter - hello! - it was a really positive project. The kids know they are valued in that school and the words they have chosen to pursue are truly reflected in the community there. It's great to have it up on the wall for all to see.

Wahoo! I won the People's Choice Award!
Bit belated putting it on here (I found out a month ago!) but thought I'd put the end of the story with the start of the story :)
Definitely a lovely start to the year. Thanks to everyone who voted for me. Much appreciated.

We Raku - do you?

The Parks pottery group met at SA Studio Potters Club on Saturday to try their hand at Raku. There was lots of nervousness, a few "oohs" and "aahs" and lots of smoke and fire!
Thanks to Carol Knezevic and Peter Matthews for firing up the kiln for us and co-ordinating the day. And to the Bakery and Sri Lankan restaurant for yummy lunch!
